Visiting the Slave Castles is not just a tour; it is a pilgrimage. It is an emotional experience that requires the right mindset and the right support. Expat Life Ghana provides a fully private, premium experience. We handle the navigating, the driving, the food, and the tickets, so you can focus on the history and your connection to the land.
We also offer this tour with a Traditional Naming Ceremony where you are welcomed into the community by Chiefs and Elders.

🗓️ Schedule: This is a Full Day Trip (approx 14+ hours). Check availability below.
We pick you up directly from your location in Accra. Settle into your air-conditioned vehicle and relax. The journey to the Central Region takes approximately 3.5 hours, offering views of the Ghanaian countryside without the hassle of driving yourself.
Before reaching the castle, we visit the "Last Bath" (Donko Nsuo). This serves as a spiritual cleansing and a way to pay respects to the ancestors who walked the route before us. It is a serene, somber, and beautiful site where you can walk in the water.
The oldest European building in existence below the Sahara. You will be guided through the dungeons, the governor's quarters, and the Door of No Return. It is a heavy experience, but a necessary one to understand the resilience of the African spirit.
We break for a relaxing lunch at a popular Diaspora-favorite restaurant located right on the water. Here you can decompress, enjoy fresh local cuisine, and process the morning's experience with a beautiful view before the drive back.
Nap on the way back while our driver navigates the traffic. You will be dropped off at your door in the evening.
